Classes

We love seeing people learn new creative crafts! That's why we teach classes of all kinds, especially beginning classes. We love watching the progress after a customer takes their first beginning class. Please find below the class lists for each month. You can also find class descriptions below. We hope to offer online classes as well very soon!


REGULARLY SCHEDULED EVENTS:

Spinning Group: Meets the first Thursday of every month.

Stitch Night: We keep the store open every Thursday. Come hang out with us!

Private Lessons: Do you need significant help on a current project? Would you like to learn a new technique we aren't offering a class for? Do you want to learn a new craft, but can’t attend a weekend class? Schedule a private lesson today! We can work around your schedule, and can schedule your hour-long private lesson any time between 10 & 4. $45/hour, $25/30 minutes, $15/15 minutes (Time slots available on first come-first served basis.)


July

Saturday 13th:

Table Runner of the Month Sew Along: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., free with purchase of kit

Riley Blake's Table Runner of the Month Program is coming to Clothyard Fabrics/Park Avenue Yarns! You can get your kit and come and sit and sew with us, or take it home and work on it yourself. The kits have everything you need for the top and binding.

Thursday 18th:

Weaving 1 - Rigid Heddle: 12-4, $90 + materials

Learn to weave using a rigid heddle portable loom while making your first woven scarf. Select & purchase your favorite color beginning weaving kit, and learn to warp your loom, how to weave, and how to finish your project in this workshop. Includes 1 week rental of the loom so you can finish your project at home.

Texas State Wall Hanging: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., $85 + materials

Create this adorable quilted wall hanging by learning basic applique technique, echo machine quilting, self binding, and add hanging tabs.

Foundation Paper Piecing Basics: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., $45 + materials

Learn the basics of how foundation paper piecing works: how to sew fabric in a specific order and creating blocks with precise results.

Knit II: 2:30-4 p.m., $35 + materials

Advance your knitting skills. Yarn and needles can be purchased before the class.

Sunday 21st:

Drop Spindle Spinning: 1:30-3 p.m., $35 + materials

Learn how to spin yarn using a drop spindle!

Learn to Knit Socks Part 2: 12-3 p.m., $65 + materials

Students will learn to knit cuff-down socks, make a heel flap, turn the heel, make a gusset, and decrease for toes, using kitchener stitch to close.

Saturday 27th:

Harry the Monster Sewing Class: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., $65 + pattern fee - all other supplies provided

Make this adorable monster doll by hand! This class will teach the invisible seaming stitch plus some basic hand embroidery and appliqué techniques.

Intro to Embroidery: 10 a.m.-noon, $35 + materials

Students will learn basic beginning embroidery stitches using printed fabric as their guide.

In this class we will warp the loom in two colors, create a scarf or cowl in a two-color log cabin design.

Students will learn the parts of a sewing machine, basic stitches, stitch functions, and basic terminology.

Our classes are limited in size, so be sure to make your reservation today! Call us at 832.932.0300 or come by the shop to reserve your space. All classes are subject to cancellation if the minimum student enrollment is not met. If this occurs, a full refund will be credited back to you, or will be applied to store credit, whichever you prefer.

Fine Print (because everybody has some): All our classes and events have a 7 day cancellation policy. You must cancel your registration for a class PRIOR to 7 days (1 week) before the class in order to receive a refund OR store credit (including the ability to take another class at a later date in place of the class you miss). We apologize, but no refunds, class credit, or store credit will be issued if cancellation is not made prior to this time frame.
