Weaving 1: Rigid Heddle I: Basics of Weaving
This class is a beginner rigid-heddle loom weaving class.
In this class, students will learn the parts of the rigid heddle loom, how to read a basic rigid heddle weaving pattern, direct warping, basic plain weave, an easy finishing technique, twisting fringe, and how to wet finish woolen projects.
Weaving is not expected to be completed within the class time, but students may take class looms home for 1 week to finish their project.
Please select, purchase and have wound all yarn PRIOR to the class.
Skills Taught: Direct warping the rigid heddle loom, basic plain weave, simple finishing technique, how to read a basic rigid heddle weaving pattern.
Project: Plain weave scarf with fringe
Materials you will need to bring: 2 skeins worsted weight yarn (same color or contrasting colors), scissors, yarn needle, tape measure or ruler
Materials provided for use in the class: Shop-owned rigid heddle loom with 8 or 10 dent reed
